EMQG General Meeting

Ken apologized for moving the meeting to Zoom due to the heat. The current plan, depending on Covid issues, is to meet at the Garden Center for the September meeting.
Ken announced that election of officers for 2022 is just around the corner. Anne has agreed to stay on as photographer (thanks Anne!) but open positions are president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Please let Ken know if you are interested. All current board members are willing to help get new members up to speed.
Ken introduced the September calendar block, Four Apples, and demonstrated how to create the stems. Directions will be sent via email.
Ken will send a swatch of fabric for the Ugly Fabric challenge to anyone who would like to participate. Projects are due for the December meeting.
Nela announced the Community Outreach Challenge project for Quiltcom 2022. The theme is Angles. Nela will get the required materials for anyone interested in working on it. Jill has a mathematical template for creating stars which will be included to create our ‘angles’.

Show and tell:
Ken will be teaching a class in Arizona. The quilt design is Crown and Anchor by designer Doug Leko. The fabric will be from the Tim Holtz line. The background is created using ten different blacks!
Jenny – Made mostly with fabric from her stash, the quilt is going to a relative in San Diego who wanted something monochromatic with ocean blues. This was quilted by Kelly.
Jenny's chosen artist for the Art Inspired challenge is Yayoi Katsuma, a contemporary Japanese artist.
Anne – Art Inspiration Challenge
The first photo is Anne's block with the inspiration art, Farbige Staffelung by Spohie Taeuber-Arp pictured below.
For Show and Tell Linda Del also showed small baskets that she embroidered on her machine and Pat showed fabric she painted with Speedball ink as well as a wool bee pin cushion.
