EMQG January 2021 Meeting Update

January business and information:

For our yearlong project, Ken will design a monthly 12” block representing something about the month, ie February hearts, October pumpkins. Ken emailed photos and directions for January and February today. December’s block will be sent in November so all blocks can be finished for show and tell by the December meeting. Also note, two yards of fabric would be needed for anyone wanting the same background fabric in all 12 blocks. The provided block is just a suggestion so feel free to add to or use another design, ie the October pumpkin could be made into a jack-o-lantern.

If you’ve misplaced your paint chip samples, Ken can provide replacements. Finished paint chip challenge projects will be shared at the March meeting. Bonnie, who had red and purple paint chip colors, showed the start of a quilt top she’s making with her colors.

Bonnie reminded everyone to follow EMQG on Facebook and Instagram.

Ken will keep all the modern quilting books remaining after Phyllis' sale for a guild library. Linda D. informed us that there are also some tutorial CDs of Phyllis’ and she will bring those to Ken. The board suggested purchasing an additional quilt display frame with the proceeds of the sale but all guild members are welcome to make suggestions. Hiring a speaker or having a workshop and offering a scholarship for a new young quilter were suggested.

If anyone knows someone who needs a quilt, perhaps someone who lost their home in the fires, Darcy is a contact for donated quilts. Jill suggested also contacting St Vinney’s with donation quilts for young girls. The EMQG is not doing a donation quilt right now as someone is needed to organize the project and the guild would need to decide where it would go.

For next months show and tell, Ken would like to try screen share. Please send a photo of show and tell projects to Ken before the February meeting so he can put the slide show together.

Ken reminded us that all registration forms have a ‘permission to be included in directory’ at the bottom. Ken will contact members who did not confirm their permission. When all are confirmed, a zip file membership directory will be provided to all paid EMQG members.
