EMQG October 2020 Meeting Recap

Thanks to everyone who was able to join the meeting on Zoom.

Dues for 2021: A motion was made and passed unanimously to reduce dues for 2021 only to $25 since the guild is not paying rent to the Garden Club. Dues can be paid on a sliding-scale, $25-$40, to cover the cost of EMQG's membership with MQG.

2021 Board Elections: The following board members were elected for 2021:

President:  Ken Casey

Vice President:  Bonnie Glass
Secretary:  Shared – Darcy Davis and Linda Dye
Treasurer:  Linda Delaplain

2021 Challenges: Ken introduced three challenges for 2021

January – April: Paint Chip

In November each member will be mailed the membership form plus two paint chips. The challenge will be to make something in the colors of the two chips. Members accepting the challenge may also choose one other fabric color and can make anything they choose, ie. quilt, pillow, purse, etc. Nela also suggested reaching out to other members and sharing fabrics. 

April – August: Art Masterpiece

August – December: Ugly Fabric

Ken will reach out to other Guilds for ideas on a year long project. 

2020 Mystery Quilt: Five members (Anne, Missy, Linda Delaplain, Jill, Glenna, and Jackie) showed their finished quilt tops!

Show and Tell:

Ken: Ken showed his October “Calendar Quilt” by Kim Schaefer


Janice
: Showed her finished baby quilt “Tube Socks”



Linda Delaplaine: Showed a Thanksgiving panel wall hanging and two quilts tops for her niece's twin boys.




Denise: Showed a paper piecing wall hanging “Two Calfs”, an improv done while being evacuated “Flames and Ash, a small Nicholas Balls metallic experimental small quilt


Phyllis: Jill reminded members about remaining books and fabrics from Phyllis and Ken has agreed to store them. Books will be used as a lending library.


2020 Quiltcon Charity Quilt: The 2020 Charity quilt needs to be bound and quilted and is due in November. Members who made blocks can forward leftover fabrics to the mailbox. Jenny will bind and Ken will quilt.



Nela delivered last years Quiltcon quilt to Shelter Care where it will be used for a fundraiser.
