Thanks to everyone who joined the Zoom meeting.
Slow Stitch Meet Up
We had another great Slow Stitch meeting at the Owen Memorial Rose Garden on July 2. Thanks to everyone who came - it was great to see you! We'll be in touch soon about plans for an August meeting.
Update on our Memory Book for Phyllis
Linda Delaplain finished and ordered a memory book to deliver to Phyllis's family. A link is here for anyone else who would like to view or purchase a book. Thank you, Linda, for assembling this lovely memorial to our good friend.
Pillowcases
Thank you to everyone who has made a pillowcase. Linda Delaplain reported that about 40 pillowcases have been donated so far. She took a deliver to Bags of Love, but you are welcome to continue making and deliver to Linda any time, either directly to Linda, or via the EMQG mailbox.
Blackberry Jam Quilt Show
The Blackberry Jam Quilt Show will be a 'drive-through' quilt show in Lowell on July 25. More info here.
Unconventional Materials Challenge
July was the reveal date for our Unconventional Materials Challenge.
- Denise shared a few items she's made using a handkerchief, a napkin, and a dresser scarf.
- Jill's is still in progress. She calls it 'The Greening of America,' and includes 'appliquéd' milk bottle tops.
- Ken made a photograph holder using magnetic washers stitched to a quilted 'leash.'
- Janice has a stack of denim prepped to sew into her 'unconventional' challenge.
It's not too late! Bring your finished 'Unconventional Materials Challenge' project whenever you're ready to share.
Mystery Blocks
Thanks to everyone who shared their completed Mystery Quilt Blocks.
This month, make fourteen 4-inch finished squares. Ken sent a separate email to EMQG members with clarified instructions and suggestions for these blocks. Some of the blocks will be grouped together. Janice shared that she is making some repeats for the groups, and some individuals.
QuiltCon Charity Quilt
Ken's email also included detailed information about plans for our QuiltCon Charity Quilt. Ken provided guidelines for your blocks and some YouTube links to help inspire ideas. Please note that we are using colors 1, 3, 5, and 6 (white, dark orange, medium/cobalt blue, and navy blue). Suggestions for Bella and Kona matches are included in Ken's email. The deadline is a few months shorter this year than previous years, so finished blocks need to be delivered to the EMQG POBox as soon as possible. Contact Ken or Nela if you have any questions.
Show and Tell
Thanks to everyone who participated in 'Show and Tell' at the meeting, and to everyone who sent in photos for our round up this month.
