November 2019 Eugene MQG Meeting

We had one guest join us today.  Welcome!

Announcements:

We had our final Sew Day on November 2nd with a good turn out of participants.  The guild has reserved 5 dates at the Eugene Garden Club for Sew Days in 2020.  Jan 11th, March 1st, May 30th, Sept 13th and Nov 7th.

Eugene 1st Friday Art Walk. We have been chosen to show our traveling quilts at the Euphoria Chocolates downtown store.  Bonnie is organizing this with her business.  She is hoping to show 7-8 quilts and is requesting the owners of the quilts be present to speak about them.  Speak to Bonnie if you are interested in participating.

Willamette Valley Quilt Festival:   January 31st and February 1st, 2020.  This is held at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Albany.  We will have a booth at this festival and will be hanging the charity quilt we have created.  We need members to help at the booth in 2 hours shifts on both days.  Please sign up to help and also enjoy the quilt show!

2020 membership dues:  $35/yr.  Dues will be due by the December guild meeting.  If you would like to pay $40, the extra money will be used to help support anyone who is unable to pay the yearly dues and/or add to the general fund for the guild.

What skills do you want to see demonstrated next year?  Nela passed around a tablet for members to write down ideas and suggestions.

Maude Kerns Art Center has a members show "Art For All Seasons" currently on display.  Eugene MQG member Daisy has a quilt piece hanging in this show.  Go see it and support local artists!

Monthly Skill Demo:  'Inspired by a hanky', presented by Jill.

Jill had many of her personal hankies she has received or purchased over the years and showed ways in which to use them in quilts and art pieces.  She also had the members present choose one or several hankies of interest and discuss how they can spark an idea for a creative piece.
