QuiltCon 2019 Charity quilt: We had donated this quilt to ShelterCare for their Art Gives Hope auction and the quilt was sold to a woman who purchased it for her mother who is a quilter! ShelterCare was able to gain some funds by this purchase to help their organization support individuals who need assistance with housing. Win win!
Eugene/Corvallis Meet-up: Tentatively planned for June 22 from 12pm -? at Sweet Earth Winery in Monroe, OR. The swap will be a fabric basket. Hope to see you there!
Improv Workshop with Sherri Lynn Wood August 24-25, 2019. It will be held at BJ's Quilt Basket in Bend. Sheri was a featured artist at QuiltCon 2019.
Sew Day May 18, 10am-4pm. Eugene Garden Club. $10 is cost, bring your sewing machine and projects to work on and have some fun!
EMQG Retreat 2019: October 3-6 (Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning) at Big K Ranch in Elkton, OR. This includes 6 meals, a cabin on site and an individual table for your space to sew. Deposits are due by June 12 (June Guild meeting date) and there will be a capacity of 20 individuals. Deposits will be $200 for a double, triple or quad cabin, and $300 for a single. If paying by check, please make the check out to EMQG. Total costs for the retreat will be $233 for a quad (2 people will be sharing one bed), $265 for a triple, $328 for a double and $519 for a single.
We have made some magnets and stickers of our membership logo ($3 each), so grab some before they are gone.
Bonnie shared that there will be a gala in November 2019 for Ballet Fantastique and is wanting to make a charity/donation quilt for them. She will know more about their theme soon and is asking other members to join her in creating a design and constructing the quilt.
Monthly Skill Demo:
Cutting bias strips by Denise.
Denise presented on bias strip cutting and found a method she called "Quick Bias Strip Method" (see picture below of her handout). This method made strip cutting on a bias really easy and fast.
Curved piecing by Jayne and Phyllis.
Jayne and Phyllis presented on curved piecing. They used the 'Sew Kind of Wonderful' Quick Curve Ruler and demonstrated the variety of gentle curved piecing designs which can be made. Phyllis showed her version of the pattern Rings Revival.
