Announcements:

Our QuiltCon 2019 charity quilt has been donated to ShelterCare in Eugene.  They are excited to receive it and will be placing it in their fundraising event Art Gives Hope held on April 25th.  See more about ShelterCare's event here:  http://www.sheltercare.org


Riley Blake challenge through the Modern Quilt Guild has 2 EMQG members participating this year.  Looking forward to their creations!

Redwood Empire Quilters Guild in Eureka, CA is holding their Heart of the Redwoods Quilt Show July 27-28, 2019.  They sent postcards to us to help get the word out.  See more info here:  https://reqg.com

Catching up on February UFO winners:  Daisy's name was drawn from the fish bowl of participants in last months challenge!

Donation Quilt 2019:  Missy shared the blocks again and asked members to help decide on fabric for the sashing between the blocks.  Members voted on a dark teal as first choice, followed by a golden color as second choice.  The blocks and sashing material will be present at our next Sew Day on May 18th with a request to have assistance to start sewing the sashing and blocks together! Can't wait to see those blocks Pop!!  


  
Next Sew Day:  Saturday May 18th, 10am-4pm.  $10 donation to help cover the costs of the space.

Monthly Skill Demo:

Hexies by Penny and Kathy.

Penny shared a way to make hexagon blocks with machine sewing.  She presented the method by Peg Spradlin titled Hexie Magic Blocks (can be found in Quiltmaker magazine Nov/Dec 2014).  

























Kathy demonstrated her method of hand sewing hexie blocks "flat" on the back side so that no stitches show on the front.  Such a nice effect! 





















 

Kathy also had a guest, Michelle, show her method of machine sewing hexies together.
