October 2018 Eugene MQG Meeting

Recent fun happenings:

Sew Day Sept 22.  We had 10 people present at our sew day.

EMQG Retreat Oct 4-7.  We had 18 people in attendance and made good headway on our QuiltCon 2019 Charity Quilt.  Our idea of tube socks looks great, and the name "Old Technology" was chosen as it is reminiscent of computer punch cards. We also had about 73 blocks made for our 2019 donation quilt.  Fun times!

2019 Donation quilt:  We changed the block size to 7" rather than 10", so please make some more monochromatic blocks to a size of 7" UNfinished .

Announcements:

Next Sew Day:  Sunday November 4.  We have invited members of the Corvallis MQG to join us.

EMQG Retreat 2019:  October 3-6, Thursday through Sunday at The Big K Ranch outside of Elkton, OR.

Voting of officers:
The current EMQG officers agreed to throw their names in to remain as officers.  No other nominations were submitted, so voting commenced.  Kelly made a motion, Sorrel seconded it.  22 members were present and voted in the current officers to serve again in 2019.

Board meeting updates:
Dues will remain $35/yr for 2019.  Member fees will start being collected in December 2018.

A member survey was handed out and completed during the meeting.  The idea of updating business cards was suggested.  Topics to create additional EMQG member gatherings were briefly discussed, with one being the Oregon Quilt Block Trail.  Missy volunteered to research this as a potential group outing.
