Meeting Notes

12/18/13 EMQG Meeting Notes

Presenters:  Phyllis and Diane

Minutes:  Karen

Photographer:  Jessica

Please try to attend the January meeting as we’ll be electing officers for 2014. We’ll be posting information on our web site prior to the meeting about the positions we think we need to fill, and the possible duties of the each position.

Please try to make and wear a name tag to our meetings so new members and guests can learn everyone’s names.

Jessica shared some breaking news from the PMQG. They’re planning a meet-up and exhibit in Portland in 2014. They’re brainstorming to come up with ideas for a Pacific Northwest challenge for August 2014.

Thanks to Viki for donating some quilting books to anyone that wanted to take them.

The December Swap was an ornament, holiday or winter theme.

We had refreshments and played a “strip game.”

For the strip game, we passed around three 2 ½” X WOF strips. The game is played using dice that are coded for left, right, or center. The last person holding a strip gets to keep all of the strips that end up in the center. Kelly was the winner. You should have seen her excitement at winning.

Wednesday night meeting postponed!

Since we are living in a winter wonderland currently, it is in our best interest to postpone this weeks meeting of 12/11/2013 until next Wednesday 12/18/2013.  Same time, same place.

We realize this will be an inconvenience for some of you, but our driving safety is an issue here.

That said, we will still do our year-end celebration!  Bring a treat to share if you would like.

We will still hold our strip party for our December meeting. Bring 3 strips (or a group of 3 strips) to our meeting. The strips should be 2 ½" by WOF. We’ll play a dice game using the strips. This is an opportunity to get rid of some unwanted (ugly) fabric that’s taking up space in your stash.

We will hold off on voting for new positions until the new year as attendance will most likely be down for this meeting.  This will give you more time to think about volunteering if you have been on the fence about it!

  • Presenter (aka President)
  • Program director (aka Glorious Organizer)
  • Photographer
  • Take minutes
  • Swap organizer
  • Bee organizer
  • Treasurer

Bring any Urban Chicken donation blocks that you have done...if you haven't had time, well now you have an extra week to work on them!

Same goes with postcards for the swap!  If you have not gotten yours finished and in the mail, you still have a week to do so.  I do know that some participants have not received a postcard yet....hint hint!  The post office charges a little bit more for handling because they are not machine fed, but they will mail them.

Also let's turn in all those outstanding bee blocks that you might have yet to finish and the ones due this month.  Finish up this years bee and be ready to start a new one in January!

See you all next week, 12/18/2013!  Stay safe out there!

PS:  If you would like to help with setting up the room for the meetings please arrive at 6:15 to help.
