Eugene Modern Quilt Guild
April 2021
Ken: The Calendar Challenge May block has been sent out. The block is two tulips. Ken suggested you measure your flowers when you’re finished as his block was smaller at the top when he was finished.
Nela: The retreat this year will be Thursday Sept 30 – Sunday, Oct 3
Please fill out on line questionnaire as soon as possible, even if you will not attend, so Nela has a head count. Masks are required.
Ken: The All Star Virtual Sampler Platter Event presented by the Global Quilt Connection is coming in May. The EMQG has paid for our entire guild to attend so no cost to members. This event will help familiarize everyone using Zoom, as well as have 18 quilting instructors demonstrating quilting techniques. The dates are Saturday May 22 and Sunday May 23.
Ken: Reminded everyone about the Artist/Museum challenge and wondered how many have enjoyed looking through the museums to search for an artist. Jenny said she wanted to choose a woman artist so has looked at MOMA and one of the French museums. Denise said she has looked at some of the museums. Linda Jo has looked at all of them and has artist in mind. Missy went to a couple of them, including the Louvre.
Ken also reminded everyone that you can pick any artist or work that isn’t in the museums listed. Quilters can make anything they want, such as a quilt, a bag, or stuffed animal. When submitting a photo of the finished work, please include a photo of the inspiration artwork.
Ken: An in person Sit and Sew has been scheduled for next Thursday, April 22 at 10 am.
Missy: Suggested a topic for a future meeting How to organize your ‘sewing’ room. We all agreed it would be a useful topic.
Ken: Ken and Kelly have library of books from Phillis that will soon be available to check out.
Jill: Donated chairs from the Sewing Room to the Garden Club.
