EMQG Meeting notes 6/11/14

BEE:
Daisy had some beautiful blocks turned in to her.
June Bee: Madyson: courthouse wonky blocks.
Board members shared their position roles:
President: Jennifer. She shared her vision of creating a survey for EMQG members to gather thoughts, state goals, and brainstorm opportunities for directing the growth of the guild. She also offered that she has committed to bring books/magazines to share at each meeting during her term.
Greeter/Master of Ceremonies: Daisy and Phylis. Keep the meeting running smoothly as per agenda, greet new members.
Treasurer: Madyson. She shared our assets, debts and current balance of our bank account.
Social Media/Photographer: Shawna/Madyson “webmistresses”: Creating/refining our public presence via multiple social media sites. Madyson designed new EMQG logos and Shawna helped choose the new logo as charged by the board members.

Secretary: Missy; Karen (alternate): Records meeting notes for monthly guild meetings, board meetings, maintains records in an official meeting binder which is available at guild meetings, creates a year end summary of events.
Program Director: Linda: Secure presenters for monthly guild meetings.
Bee Organizer: Nelda: Assists with gathering members for the yearly bee, and organizes monthly block presentation and distribution of finished blocks.
Swap Organizer: Kathleen: Chooses monthly swap items and provides ideas of how/where to find info for creating items.

BUSINESS:
Shawna shared the new EMQG logo and a mock up postcard created to provide info to the public. Discussion was held regarding costs for printing of this postcard. Laura L of Grammas Barn Quilting donated funding for an initial order of postcards.
Kesch made a motion to use the funds for purchasing the postcards. Nelda seconded it. The members voted to use the money as designated to purchase 1,000 postcards.
Madyson distributed some release of information forms for members to declare their choices for sharing of personal information.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Nelda, Textile Coordinator for the Lane County Fair, is looking for volunteers to assist with the textile entries intake, setup and monitoring of the display area during the fair. Contact her: nlcopsey@gmail.com or 541 914-1610.
Karen spoke about the EMQG booth/table at the Coburg Quilt Show, July 26, 2014. She is looking for volunteers to help with setup of booth itself, pricing and organizing of sale items, hanging of the raffle quilt, and manning the booth during show hours.
PRESENTATION:
Millie from Paramount spoke about basic sewing machine maintenance and how to keep your machine in “tip-top running order” between visits to a sewing machine technician.. Important points were change your needle, remove lint, lubricate the hook using the correct oil for your machine, and clean the outside of the machine. She provided a handout with more detailed info.
SWAP: Placemats! Many participants and shapes/designs shared. Way to go everyone!!!
SHOW AND TELL:
Jennifer: Shared a quilt that she received which was made of batik blocks her students had created with her guidance. What a special gift!
Nelda and her sister Kathy: Cat quilt that they created together.
Madyson: Mini quilt with an online group challenge.
Kelly: Another twist on the Urban Chicken, made from the last of the leftover blocks…!
Pat: “Our River Runs Through It” art quilt she designed…gorgeous!
Justine: A nice heart and log cabin quilt from some quilt blocks she found at a garage sale. Can we say upcycle?!!!
Linda: Another smaller version of a purse she shared recently and two table runners, one with matching placemats.
Denise: Scrappy table runner with nice free motion quilting.
BOARD MEETING: Monday June 30th, 6pm. @ McMennamins at the River Bank
SEW-IN: Wednesday June 18th at 6:30-8:30pm. McNail Riley house.
SEW DAY: Saturday June 28th 10am-5pm. Our Sewing Room.
