November 13, 2013 EMQG Meeting Notes
Presenters: Phyllis and Diane
Minutes: Karen
Swap
The November swap was a potholder. The December swap is holiday, or a holiday ornament.
Discussion
Kelly and Jessica presented some information about joining the Modern Quilt Guild. We discussed the paperwork and financial requirements, as well as the additional structure it would add to our guild. One possible obstacle is getting people to volunteer to fill the positions needed to run our guild. It was suggested that perhaps two people could share a position. Discounts on events and activities
Resource: Information available on MQG’s website for members, such as forums, tutorials, challenges, swaps, shows & juried shows, opportunities to get on committees, an opportunity to combine new technology with quilting, access to teachers, a framework for leadership
We voted on whether or not to join, and the results:
YES: 27 Whoo hoo!
undecided: 2
no: 1
Next month we need to vote on new officers. The positions or titles may have to change once we officially join the MQG.
Several people mentioned that serving on the guild was a growing opportunity for them, and would like to see more people take advantage of the opportunity to volunteer for a position in 2014. Be prepared to volunteer!
