TUTORIAL—HARDANGER BY DEANNA
Deanna shared several books on, and samples of, Hardanger, an embroidery technique from Norway (and other countries). She noted that Hardanger is used to embellish clothing, scarves, table toppers, etc.
She uses a blanket stitch of pearl cotton on an even weave, 22-count fabric.
The stitches are largely geometric. The scary part is when she cuts away the fabric. There are ways to fix cutting mistakes. Nancy also does Hardanger. We were impressed!

SHOW AND TELL
Jessica shared her quilt, an original design, destined for the Andover Booth at Quilt Market. She’s thinking of creating a pattern for it and selling it.
Kira shared her quilt in progress—a Mario Bros—tiny 1” squares in a digitized pattern. She showed us the blocks in various stages of completion. She referred to blog and book “Cut to Pieces”. An incredible work for her son!
Nelda shared a quilt her great grandma was working on in 1970 when she was 91 years old. Amazing!
Deane shared a string quilt she made while taking a recent class from Cyndi Brunz. So cheery!
Laurie shared a flannel quilt she had made from plaid shirts from Goodwill. Super soft!
Denise shared her Sunday Morning Quilt—made with scraps. Gorgeous!
Wanda shared three quilts— one for a Ugandan girl whose education she supports (machine quilted by Denise)
She made one for her future grandson expected in a decade or more, complete with African creatures, fun! (sometimes when you find the perfect fabric... you just have to make the quilt.)
Wanda also shared a "tossed coins" variation top. She had a good time with friends arranging the colors until they were just right.
Susan, a new participant to the guild, shared two quilts she made AND quilted. Fantastic quilting. She noted she had been longarm quilting for about a year.
Phyllis shared what she made at the recent Get Away Girl’s Retreat—a cool Mondo bag.
Nancy shared a Halloween theme stitching project. Striking!
Denise brought the finished Habitat top, made from the blocks that we made earlier in the year. What a difference she made! Denise is asking for purple scraps for the backing. We have enough blocks for another quilt if some one want to adopt them to piece together. We may just have to sew them together on an upcoming sew day.
Swap News--

BANNER BLOCKS. There was a plethora of banner blocks . We look forward to seeing what Denise does with all the blocks.
