EMQG meeting minutes for October 13, 2010

Minutes submitted by Wanda and blogged by Jessica.

I. PRE-MEETING ACTIVITY

Nearly 30 interested people arrived between 6:30 and 7 pm. We chatted and made fabric name tags.

II. GETTING STARTED

Jessica introduced herself. We agreed that Jessica is our President and Wanda is our Secretary-- at least for the foreseeable future. Three lists went round the group: Name and email address of attendees, potential activities, and potential teachers and topics. Jessica will report back at the next meeting.

III. SHAPING OUR GUILD

We batted ideas around. We agreed on the following points.

*We meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Meetings have a soft opening at 6:30 for socializing, with the "gavel dropping" at 7pm. NEXT MEETING IS NOVEMBER 10 @ PIECE BY PIECE FABRICS. Meetings are for planning events, teaching or sharing techniques, and sharing accomplishments.

*Initially, we meet once a month to sew. The sewing session alternates between a weeknight and a weekend. FIRST SEW SESSION IS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21 ATOUR SEWING ROOM located @ 448 Main St, Springfield. (Across the street from the Emerald Arts Center, which is down the block from the Springfield Museum.) The fee is $3 each. Look for information about the time, possible snacks, provided equipment, and equipment that we need to bring.

*No dues at this time. However we are a "PAY TO PLAY" organization.

IV. FOLLOW -UP ACTIONS

We talked about possible places to meet in the event that we outgrow Piece by Piece Fabrics or Our Sewing Room doesn't suit our needs. Jessica was going to check on the Community Room at EWEB and the Conference Room at the Library. Stephanie offered to check on the Library at South Eugene High School.

V. SHOW AND TELL

We saw many beautiful, inspiring quilts and projects.
